A Story About Web Development
Crawling seemed like a good option. I didn't take it. The dog was done using the outdoor restroom and we were headed to the third story to sleep.
What a day. "Working myself to death" was my new nickname. I was not "workaholic" anymore.
During this phase of my life, I would only take four to seven days off in the entire year. My work day was always interesting.
My responsibilities included:
I was business manager 45 hours per week at the local sign shop. On top of that, I spent 17 - 25 hours per week turning my food business.
Much later, I sold the food business, resinged from my duties at the sign shop, and moved away from the city.
This is when my journey in web development became priority number one. Away from the city hustle, my work-load decreased. My career as a Designer was severely wounded. Web development was the life line to keep it alive.
After relearning HTML5, CSS3, and some Javascript, I began designing freelance advertisement again. This time for new customers. Instead of creating signs and car wraps, I was mainly producing promotional emails and websites.
I would work a weekend job doing office work, for 25 - 32 hours per week. Most of my time was spent learning and applying web development syntax, code enhancements, artificial intelligence, and best practices. Thank God for freelancing over the internet!
My responsibilities now included:
In hindsight of it all, the pursuit of knowledge is and always has been the life line to my career.
I guess focus and attention are truly the new currency.
